PROJECT: Veolia Public Art Mural on Veolia Building in downtown Oklahoma City
DESCRIPTION: Downtown OKC Initiatives and Veolia announce call for professional artists to submit their qualifications to be considered for a mural on the south-facing wall of Veolia’s building at 1 N E. K. Gaylord, 73102. The art will be:
– Site specific
– Culturally appropriate
– Able to incorporate elements of environmental sustainability
– Monumental
– Able to last 20 years
BACKGROUND: Downtown OKC Initiatives is partnering with Veolia to beautify the corner of Sheridan Avenue and E. K. Gaylord Blvd. The walls of Veolia’s south building are made of louvers, unique architectural panels that allows air to flow to the physical plant behind the walls. Louvers pose a unique mural challenge as a solid surface is not constant. Veolia and DOKC are looking for a creative solution to beautify the south-facing wall with art that aligns with Veolia’s goals of pursuing environmental responsibility.
SIZE: 76’ 4” wide x 58’ 8” tall = 4,478 sq/ft
BUDGET: $40,000
RFQ DEADLINE: Wednesday, July 31st
