Participants are invited to dress as trees – holiday trees\, butterfly trees\, forest trees\, trees of life\, any tree you choose. \nGather with us at 6:00pm as the sun sets on Automobile Alley. Last minute light and costume additions will be available! \nThe March of The Trees will set off promptly at 6:20pm to march our way through Automobile Alley spreading light\, and will end the evening with live performance and a Solstice Ceremony at Factory Obscura’s MIX-TAPE (25 NW 9th Street). You are also invited to walk the labyrinth\, set intentions for new things in your life\, and watch those you wish to let go turn to ash. \nEnjoy musical performances by Moriah Bailey and Mars\, along with a Tree Dance performance by Morgan’s Myth. \nLocal food truck OK Yummy will be on site with snacks and drinks available on the sidewalk. \nMarch of the Trees events are free to attend.

Her solo project marks a shift from frustration and aggression to introspection and vulnerability\, as she explores and reinvents herself. Her debut solo album\, LES MANIÈRES DE TABLE\, draws inspiration from minimal pop and electronic music pioneers. It is both danceable and melodic\, yet disquieting and dystopian\, aiming to challenge the social codes of politeness. \nheartspace is the music project of singer-songwriter Madelyn Amacher\, an Oklahoma-based artist whose music is rooted in emotional vulnerability and self-expression. Since launching the project in 2020\, heartspace has released seven singles\, each one an honest reflection of the artist’s inner world and a testament to the power of music as a tool for emotional healing and connection. For heartspace\, music isn’t just a craft—it’s a way to untangle and make sense of the emotions that life throws at us. He is known for his heartfelt and introspective lyrics\, which often touch on themes of love\, loss\, and personal growth. Arsenia’s music has been described as a blend of folk\, pop\, and R&B\, and he continues use his gift of music to draw bridges between communities separated by race\, class\, gender\, or religion. \nPoet Meg Carlile and Movement Artist\, Morgan Smith will perform a collaborative piece. \nMeg Carlile is a lover of language of love. Growing up with extreme religious roots\, she centers her core beliefs around love and human empowerment. She provides a space for herself and others to feel the vastness of the human experience under a light of grand optimism. \nMorgan Smith is a performance artist originally from OKC with a BFA in Dance Performance from Webster University. She has been a professional performer for the past 8 years\, working independently as well as with companies such as Gramo Danse\, Perpetual Motion Dance\, Inspyral Circus\, Factory Obscura\, and is a feat. dancer with local band\, stepmom. She utilizes dance and circus arts in her creations as a means to relay her inner universe to the outside world. She is most interested in connecting with her audiences by breaking down the proverbial “fourth wall” through intimate and interactive displays of vulnerability. \nExperimental harpist\, Moriah Bailey\, will open the show. \nMoriah Bailey (fka sun riah) is a songwriter who creates intimate and vulnerable sound worlds using primarily harp\, voice\, and effects pedals. Much of Bailey’s approach to the harp – looping\, layering\, playing with ambiance\, dissonance\, and noise – has implicitly challenged many assumptions about her instrument. She at times plays solo and at other times is joined by a phenomenal ensemble of musicians. Paste Magazine describes Bailey’s music as showcasing “masterful minimalism and operatic vocals.” Her songs are delicate and tender\, defiant and strong\, and they provide space to dwell on and sit with emotions.

Evoking the grooviness of an era which preceded his arrival on earth\, Applebaum draws upon sonic devices of mid-century exotica and the succinct but dense arranging style of the leaders of the pop orchestras which dominated the hit parades of the 60s and early 70s. He blends impressions of this bygone era with an expression of his actual experiences as a young filmmaker coming of age in the 21st century\, citing influences such as Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings and Antibalas. A New Kind of Love encompasses a reverence for the past without attempting to recreate it. \nIn the tradition of the “production forward” discographies of such record makers as David Axelrod and the Mizell Brothers\, it’s easy to visualize Applebaum as a “mad doctor” figure\, hunkered down in a studio channeling this musical representation of his inner world into the 12 compositions which make up A New Kind of Love. His writing stretches his psyche to explore a terrain in which to capture emotional notes of love going well\, love gone sour\, manifesting love songs based in ghostly affairs. While the studio is obviously a wondrous happy place of experimentation and creativity for Applebaum\, he’s a band guy too (having actually fronted punk outfit The Mad Doctors). Applebaum has the wherewithal to bring his dreamy material to the 10 piece all star Ghost Funk Orchestra\, leading them to breathe life into this sophisticated body of work which heralds the celebration of a new era for the group. Ghost Funk Orchestra will be touring in concert this summer and fall to celebrate the release of A New Kind of Love\, an album which is sure to stand the test of time. \nGhost Funk Orchestra began as bandleader Seth Applebaum’s lo-fi recording project in 2014. They have been playing as part of New York City’s psych-rock and soul scenes\, but have only just recently released their debut album\, A Song for Paul. Five years might seem like a long time from a band’s conception to the release of their debut album\, but A Song for Paul is clearly worth the wait. \nWhile Ghost Funk Orchestra and A Song for Paul is Applebaum’s project\, he uses nearly 20 musicians to realize his vision. The group consistently find the groove while successfully negotiating Applebaum’s detours into some combination of jazz/prog/psych rock that occurs in nearly every tune. \nA Song for Paul is dedicated to Applebaum’s grandfather\, Paul Anish\, whose love of music was a huge influence on young Seth. But the spirit of another great music lover/music maker hovers over A Song for Paul as well\, and that would be Isaac Hayes. \nThe Hayes connection is obvious in two specific songs. “Walk Like a Motherf*cker”\, the first full track after a short album-opening introduction\, establishes the stoned 1970s funk feel that dominates the album. Although there are no backup singers telling vocalist Laura Gwynn to shut her mouth when she gets to that certain word. It seems likely Black Moses would have approved. And then\, of course\, another track is titled\, “Isaac Hayes”\, though it does not appear to be literally about Isaac Hayes \nOklahoma City-based Indie/Alt band\, Coat\, will open the show!

It is encouraged to interpret the theme in any way the performer sees fit.
