Inaugural Bricktown Canal Fest Boat Parade

July 1

Bricktown is inviting families, corporations, sports teams, church groups and all other Oklahomans to celebrate Independence Day in a way never before seen in Oklahoma City. In honor of America’s 250th birthday, Bricktown will host the inaugural Bricktown Canal Fest, a five-day celebration, July 1-5, filled with patriotic festivities, boat parade, live entertainment, family activities, sports, fireworks, and community spirit.
The celebration kicks off on Wednesday, July 1 at 10:00 a.m. with the first-ever Bricktown Canal Boat Parade and Car Showcase along the iconic Bricktown Canal. The event will feature decorated boats, one mile of patriotic displays along the canal, special guests, live performances, and family-friendly entertainment.
Guests can enjoy free patriotic swag, appearances by Moonshot, mascot of the OKC Comets, American banjo musicians, Thunder drummers and dancers, Oklahoma Opry performers, Oklahoma United Football Club, Brickopolis Property Owners/Dignitaries, 72nd Air Base Wing, former mayor Ron Norick and other local entertainers.
“The Bricktown Canal is one of Oklahoma City’s most beloved attractions, and we’re excited to create a new tradition that brings the Oklahoma community together while celebrating both our nation’s history and Bricktown’s legacy,” organizers said.
The canal itself holds a special place in Oklahoma City’s history. A key component of the city’s MAPS initiative championed by former Mayors Ron Norick and Kirk Humphreys and Bricktown leader and developer Jim Brewer, the Bricktown Canal officially opened on July 2, 1999.
