Festival of Joy

September 7, 2025 @ 3:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Free

Origin: Ratha Yatra, meaning “Chariot Festival,”
originates from Puri, Odisha, India, with a history
spanning over 800 years.
Significance: Festival of Joy is the world’s oldest
street festival, celebrating a 5,000-year-old
tradition from India. It honors Lord Krishna, also
known as Jagannath, the Lord of the Universe.
After years away in battle, His family longed for
His return and brought Him back home to
Vrindavan by pulling His chariot with ropes.
This festival re-enacts that joyful reunion.
Everyone is welcome to join in pulling the
chariot, with vibrant singing and dancing leading
the way.
This year we are relaunching it in Scissortail park
